Send emailThe Brentwood Art Society was formed back in June 1958 by a group of local art enthusiasts who were responding to a complaint that there was a lack of culture in Brentwood town! The Art Society holds painting sessions every Monday and Thursday, located at the Hardy Amies Art Centre, Brentwood School.
The evening sesssions are from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. On Monday evenings, tutored session are held offering different opportunities to try alternative approaches to subjects and to learn a diverse range of painting skills. Members work from a model and without a tutor on Thursday evenings. The Brentwood Art Society organises art / painting holidays, occasional demonstrations and talks from guest or visiting artists, weekend workshops away and also various gallery trips.
The Society holds an Annual Exhibition which takes place at Brentwood Library, usually around October/November.
The annual subscription is £23.00 with a studio fee of £4.00. Membership is by selective entry and new applications are welcome. If you are interested in joining please contact the Society's Secretary, Margaret Hurst, Telephone - 01277 227205.
